UBT welcomes applications from academics who are employed at a university/college/institution overseas for visits of between one month and one year. If you would like to visit UBT for less than a month, you also have the option of visiting UBT’s libraries and labs, and attending research seminars as an independent researcher.

We accept two types of visiting researchers:

  • Visiting Scholars (those who are research-active academic staff at other institutions)
  • Doctoral Researchers  (who are registered as doctoral students at another institution)

VISITNG SCHOLARS

Contact the International Office at UBT to arrange an online meeting and discuss your visit opportunity.

Contact information of the International Office can be found here.

DOCTORAL RESEARCHERS

1. Contact the department and professor you would like to visit.

2. Once your visit has been agreed in principle, contact the International Office  here.

3. If necessary, apply for funding (if available) to your home university.

In order to apply, you will be expected  to provide:

  • A visitor programme application form
  • A current CV
  • A Letter of Support from the academic who is supporting your visit
  • A letter from your home institution, confirming approval of your proposed visit to UBT
  • Evidence of how you intend to fund your visit

At the moment, most Faculties at UBT do not charge a  fee to visitors to cover the administrative and practical costs of hosting visitors. Yet, other accommodation and living costs need to be covered by the applicant.
